Life Systems Corp. is a biotech company focused on organ treatment and preservation using cell therapy and organ perfusion technology to discover and develop novel techniques for the treatment of patients suffering from organ failure, particularly heart failure. Heart failure is the number one cause of death in the United States and is responsible for one-third of all deaths around the world.
The company is using its own state-of-the-art isolated organ perfusion and cell culture technology to build a pipeline of products that are designed to offer biomedical researchers the ability to study organ function and metabolism with a vision of finding and pioneering a novel technique to treat organ failure, particularly heart failure.
Currently, pharmacological therapy and surgical approaches, such as organ transplantation, for treating organ failure are not at their optimal levels. In the case of surgical treatment, the quality of preserved organs and the pool of donor organs are limiting factors for treating a patient with organ failure. Life Systems Corp has taken the lead to treat such organ failure, with a main emphasis on heart failure, by discovering and developing novel techniques to improve organ treatment and preservation, using proprietary organ perfusion and cell culture devices. Consequently, the donor organ can be preserved at its optimal functioning level including the possibility to utilize cells to rebuild the organ after injury.
Although the isolated organ perfusion system (LifeSustainer™) of Life Systems Corp has universal applications and has been introduced to the biomedical market for purposes of preserving all type of organs, the Company’s internal research is mainly focused on heart treatment and preservation. To accomplish this goal, the Company is attracting talented scientists in the field and is developing licenses of complementary technology from universities and other accredited biomedical institutes.
