Sum Ping Lee, M.D., Ph.D.
Chairman of the Advisory Committee, received his medical degree from the University of Hong Kong and a doctoral degree in Biochemistry from the University of Auckland. He is currently Chief of Gastroenterology at Seattle's Veterans Hospital and Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington. Among the many awards and prizes he has received for his contributions as a scientist and as a clinician is the prestigious Fogarty International Award for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. As Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Lee leads a group of eminent clinical scientists who are advising the Company.
Edward D. Verrier, M.D.
Member of the Advisory Committee, is the William K. Edmark Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery, Chief, of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Professor and Vice Chairman, of the Department of Surgery, at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Verrier has a longstanding interest in the study of Ischemic Re-perfusion injury. He has published over 100 papers in leading surgical and medical journals. He is on the editorial board of some of the most prestigious journals of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Frank Selke, M.D.
Member of the Advisory Committee, is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and a clinical adult cardiac surgeon. Dr. Selke's research interests include the examination of microcirculation in the heart, lung, brain and other organs.
Daniel L. Ely, Ph.D.
Member of the Advisory Committee, is a Professor of Human Physiology at the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. Dr. Ely's research interests include heart preservation techniques for transplant; organ preservation solution; molecular biology and genetics essential hypertension; effects of sodium on cardiovascular system; stress and cardiovascular health assessments and cardiovascular physiology. He is the author or co-author of over 250 scientific articles in his area of research.
Winston Wicomb, Ph.D., LATG
Dr. Wicomb is a biomedical researcher with twenty years experience in feild of transplant research and organ preservation. He has over sixty publications with the major focus of his work in heart preservation. Dr. Wicomb has worked with the late Christian Barnard in South Africa and with Dr. G. Collins in California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, CA. Dr. Wicomb is currently affiliated with Corixa Corporation in Seattle, WA.
